The Hubei lockdown and its global impacts via supply chains

Abstract This article argues that the lockdown of Hubei province in China due to Coronavirus outbreak provides a natural experiment study importance China's role global value chains. Since started during Lunar New Year, Hubei's migrant workers who went home could not return workplaces other provinces, resulting massive labor supply shock. I feed shock through Ricardian model with intermediate goods and sectoral linkages trade welfare effects across several economies. While is most negatively affected, also has sizeable negative implications for US UK.
